Anyone good with Open Source Licenses?

Got a friends legal department arguing that... "If we include the Notepad++ installer in a zip file, that we send to a client to install on their server, that our software must now be GNU and open source"

There is no NP++ code compiled into said software. they are just including it in a zip "package" because the clients servers are often air gapped from the internet, for security reasons.

Notepad++ has this feature where you can hold your Alt-key and it allows you to select text in a "rectangle", like, you can select text above or below where you start, but at the same place in every line, not marking the full lines. (hard to describe).

Does anyone know if @kde's "Kate" also has this feature?
I'd really like that and luckily propose it for the future.
