Retro Tech Shop

Fantastic #retrogaming event hosted at #ChicoState by the amazing Non-Profit Tech Toss.

About 20+ retro consoles were available free to play including: #atari2600 #nes #wii and more.

We desperately need these third spaces to let ourselves play, be kids again, and remind us there is still joy to be found.

Games That I Missed

My younger kid has been spending the past few weeks flying through the #Kirby platformer games, mostly in reverse order. They started with Kirby's Epic Yarn (#Wii), jumped to Kirby: Planet Robobot, then Kirby: Triple Deluxe (#3DS), and now are persevering through Kirby's Return to Dreamland (Wii again).

Kirby's Epic Yarn being the exception, I find the Kirby games became increasingly beginner-friendly as time went on. They never stopped being fun for experienced players, though. Neat trick.

Retro Gaming

I finally got my PS2 hooked up in my bedroom, so now I can get PS1 and PS2 games.. I already had my Wii and Wii U hooked up.. so now in my bedroom physically I can play PS1/PS2, Wii, GameCube, and Wii U games. My Wii is modded, so I can play retro games through the Homebrew Channel on my Wii. Everything is looking great on the retro game front in my bedroom! :D

The rustii CLI now has some major features ready to go!

The “info” and “fakesign” commands have full feature parity with their WiiPy counterparts, and are noticeably faster (thanks to the Power of Rust™️). The “wad pack” and “wad unpack” commands are also available, however the rest of the WAD-related commands aren’t quite ready yet.
