Took these photos on our visit to Samuel Jónsson Art Museum in Selárdalur, Westfjords, Iceland six years ago. We met Gerhard König, a German sculptor who led the restoration work there. He was patching some cracks on one of the buildings when we approached him. He told us that every time he patched a crack, another one appeared somewhere else! 🙃

Here's a good article about the museum and the artist: grapevine.is/travel/2018/05/30

We consulted the port schedule before visiting Gerainger and picked a day with no cruise ship docking at the harbour for our visit. The village was still busy. It is, after all, one of the most touristy spots in Norway, but it was acceptable. We didn't have to stand in line for anything. All the viewing points weren't crowded. All good. Would I go to Gerainger again? Probably not. It's a once and done type of experience in my opinion.

Humpbacks

Whale-watching in Skjálfandi¹ bay, north-eastern #Iceland, in November.

Over about 2 hours we saw at least 4 individuals, we could tell this by the patterns on the fluke.
They were relaxed, and were feeding around the boat quite happily. No hunting takes place in this area.
The vessel was one of a fleet of 1970s oak fishing boats which have been lovingly restored. One ship has an electric motor for silent sailing.
