New cultivar: Callisia repens 'Shimmer Craft'.
I'm not the ICRA for Callisia, but no-one else is either, so sometimes people contact me to unofficially register new cultivars.
A sport mutation from 'Bianca' with unusual pale blotched variegation. Discovered and named by Miss Chayanisa Thiemkamol, and registered by Mister Nawat Tuyasai (also copyright owner of these photos). Read the full details on the website:
Oh my goodness look what decided to open behind my back during the workday! A friday bloom! It's huge!
To think that this is from the tiny cutting I got last summer blows my mind.

Drosera capensis (the Cape Sundew) is joining the flowering party. The small whitish flowers below the curved flower stalk of the sundew are from a species of terrestrial bladderwort.

I'm usually very strict about keeping ALL my plants in the same 12cm pots - if they outgrow the pot, they get pruned and restarted rather than upgraded. But I've finally had to give in and move this T. zanonia 'Scream' to a bigger container. It kept toppling over because it was so unstable, and it still just keeps growing straight up with no signs of branching!

A month ago the first flower was opening. I thought there will be eight of them. Looks like it's going to be ten.
Have a productive and fruitful day.
Some plant shelf highlights for this windy Wednesday.
Looks like the hibiscus I got from my sister as a cutting (that was but a wee stick) last summer is going to bloom!
Monstera dubia has started climbing. This guy was a leaf cutting in the autumn as well.
The pitcher plant is making a pup!
Thai constellation was also a tiny baby plant last autumn and it's making big boi leaves already!
One of the packages I exported in October 2024 got incorrectly stopped at customs. I assumed it had been destroyed by now, but this week it arrived back to me. Amazingly, although most of the plants inside were dried to a crisp, a few were still alive! They'd grown these weird ghostly stems, looking for a light source in the dark.
About four years ago, my mum handed me a plant, saying ominously, "This is your great-granny's aspidistra; it's about 110 years old. Don't kill it." I've lived in absolute fear of it ever since but - despite my best attempts - it hasn't died (yet) and is even growing some new leaves. Tomorrow, I'm going to attempt to re-pot it. There may be trouble ahead...

Drosera rotundifolia are nicely coming out of winter dormancy.

Ok, so I know about #BloomScrolling and #Florespondence for posting blossoming plants, #Mosstodon for pictures of moss and #SavageGarden for carnivorous plants. But what's the punny hashtag for all the plants who rarely/never bloom (unless they are in their natural environment)? Where are all the fans of succulents, cacti, ficus trees and tropical plants posting their photos?
It’s happening! It usually doesn’t bloom until mid summer .
