The Ds are afraid if they choose anyone who isn't Kamala Harris or Michelle Obama, they lose the Black vote.

If they choose Michelle Obama, she cannot directly inherit Biden's war chest. They would have to refund the money to the donors and then ask for it back. Some might say no.

If they choose Kamala, she can use all of Biden's money. But she is generally less popular than Michelle.

Anything can happen at the convention. If "Team Obama" see this as a chance to put Barack back in the White House, with Michelle making the speeches and signing the documents, she might come around.
