"Blaze destroys multimillion-euro German fire station that had no alarms"

theguardian.com/world/2024/oct

OK, that had to have been an old building that-

"A state-of-the-art fire station in western Germany that was completed last year at a cost of tens of millions of euros has burned to the ground because it had not been equipped with a fire alarm."

Are you serious???

Blaze destroys multimillion-euro German fire station that had no alarms

Stadtallendorf fire station was not legally required…

The Guardian

@freezenet Fires at fire stations are actually pretty common. They have a tendency to leave stoves, ovens, coffee pots, etc. on when they go out on alarm calls. No sprinklers in German buildings?

"Whether a future structure would be fitted with a fire alarm system would be a matter for discussion, officials said."

Apparently they are slow learners.

@mike805 It would certainly appear that they are slow learners! At minimum, you'd think they would be saying that they would be making a strong case to have them in the next building they construct.
