guns / gun violence

Really good article by NPR, covering yet another terrible mass shooting (Dadeville, Alabama, at a 16-year-old girl's birthday party) that hit me hard:

"the hospital treated at least 15 gunshot victims. Smith said at least 17 ambulances responded to the scene"

Has quotes from the grandmother of two of the victims, and the context that guns are the most common cause of death for children in the US

#Dadeville is personal to me. My grandparents lived there almost their whole lives. My mom grew up there. My grandfather was part of the group that built the local hospital (Gerald Ray Easterwood on the plaque in the lobby) and they lived two doors down from it.

Teach your kids not to solve problems with violence and rebuke anyone who does. If you don't, it can happen here.
