TIL that In 1969, the first message sent over the ARPANET was supposed to be the word "login." However, the system crashed after only two letters were transmitted, sending just "lo."

@todayilearned In the map of Arpanet, the only connection out of the USA is the satellite connection to #NORSAR at #Kjeller outside #Oslo , #Norway. At that time,1973, London was connected to the "internet" through this node with a 9.6 kb/s link.
