To me, the fediverse has this "feel" of the early internet times in Brazil, and I mean that as a good thing. Maybe this has to do with the decentralization.

Then, the internet was basically a wild west with many competing services for page hosting, photo sharing, many (mediocre or plain bad) search engines, etc.

Big tech companies existed, of course, but we didn't rely on just a couple of corporations to keep our online identities and have some fun online.

Crap, now I must install mIRC again.
