I don't know how, but I managed to mess up my server's networking so bad that after a fresh install, it still cannot connect to the internet. 💀

Facebook has started to encrypt links to counter privacy-improving URL Stripping - gHacks Tech News –

“There is no option currently to prevent Facebook's tracking of users via links. Users could avoid Facebook, but that may not be possible all the time.”

Challenge accepted!

@tio We get tens of thousands of views on the website every week, so we could probably squeeze some money out of that - but I hate ads, and why betray the trust of our users?

Element android really does need their own fdroid repo, as it's been 2 weeks since 1.4.28 came out yet it is still not on fdroid. 💀

First-ever Gitea pull request from a remote instance!!! 🎉🥳

I've been waiting for this moment for months now!

The code hasn't been pushed to yet since it's incredibly messy, but I'll clean it up tomorrow and also submit a draft pull request to upstream Gitea.

(Technical implementation information:

Goldfish is a brand new project trying to create a short video clip sharing service for the Fediverse (sort of a free open source alternative to TikTok or Vine). You can follow the project at:

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Mastodon social network, is in fact, the Fediverse. Mastodon is not a social network unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning network made useful by ActivityPub, WebFinger, NodeInfo, and vital network components comprising a full OS as defined by standard, done by the W3C and the IETF.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU/Social social network every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the implementations of GNU/Social which is widely used today is often called “Mastodon”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically GNU/Social, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Mastodon, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the network they use.

(sorry for reusing rms stuff, not-sorry for long post)

Documents published by WikiLeaks reveal NSA spying on Japanese conglomerates, government officials, ministries and senior advisers which extended back at least as far as the first administration of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe

Just by deleting my account, and when I did, I couldn't help but smile. Now there is one less thing keeping me attached to microsoft. For anyone looking to do the same and trying to give their software a new home, checkout @gitea or if you are unable to self host, use @codeberg .
